El Dorado

Michele Carey is a fine Hawksian woman in an original publicity still for El Dorado (1966).

El Dorado

James Caan and Michele Carey were an interesting  and attractive younger couple in El Dorado (1966), something that failed him in his previous film with James, Red Line 7000, notable for its lack of interesting characters and relationships.

Michele Carey as Joey MacDonald in a publicity still for El Dorado (1966).  I read that Michele had a small part in Howard Hawks’ previous film, Red Line 7000, but her scene was deleted.  Hawks made much better use of her as a strong Hawksian woman in El Dorado.

John Wayne and Michele Carey in a publicity still for El Dorado (1966).  Michele made a fine Hawksian woman but it didn’t lead to much of a career.  She passed away Nov 2018 with 38 acting credits from a 1964 episode of The Man from UNCLE to 1988.  She was also in one of Elvis’ most forgettable musicals, Live a Little, Love a Little.
