John Wayne and Howard Hawks on the set of Hawks’ last film Rio Lobo (1970). Hawks said of the film “I didn’t think it was any good.” It’s certainly the weakest of his films with John Wayne, but it is nevertheless a middling entertainment with numerous highlights.
